There was a shorter fixture list than normal, due to many of the league’s clubs taking part in Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA competitions. However, there was still plenty of action with nine league games taking place on Saturday.
Second placed Swinton Athletic lost 6-0 away against an unpredictable Oughtibridge WMFC side on Saturday. Oughtibridge had not won in the league since mid-September prior to this win. On the contrary, Swinton were previously unbeaten in the league but have now lost their last two league games. Swinton remain in second, three points off the pace, with two games spare.
Last years’ champions Handsworth Parramore’s winless run was extended to three league games on Saturday, as they fell to a 2-1 home defeat to Jubilee Sports. Dylan Parrott and Josh Statham scored the vital goals for Jubilee Sports climb into fifth place with the win, and have already registered seven points this month.
Silkstone United were 4-0 winners over South Kirkby Colliery at Silkstone Recreation Ground. It is the fourth win-in-a-row for Silkstone and sit in a comfortable mid-table position.
Rotherham Town ended a run of four league games without a win, by beating Millmoor Juniors Reserves 4-2 at Grange Park. The vital goals for Rotehrham came from Carl Marriott (2), Rich Williams and Andy Hanson.
Penistone Church Reserves are up to fourth position, following an emphatic 8-1 away win over struggling Sheffield Athletic.
The bottom two met at the Civil Service Ground, with Sheffield Lane Top hosting bottom-of-the-table Bawtry Town. Sheffield Lane Top claimed all three points, as goals from Jake Hampshire, Brett Gardner and Joe Bedford gave them a 3-0 win. The Lane Top climb two places in the table following the win.
Goals from Rayon Ramsey, Leroy Williams, Leon Slater and Seth Myers gave Caribbean Sports an impressive 4-1 home win over third placed Parkgate Reserves. It is only the second home league win of the season for mid-table Caribbean.
Steve Ellor scored the only goal at Old Road Playing Fields to give Denaby United a 1-0 home win over Worsbrough Bridge Athletic Reserves. It is the second consecutive 1-0 for Denaby, after they saw Ecclesfield Red Rose by the same score-line in the Association Cup last week.
League leaders Athersley Recreation U21 warmed-up for their U21 Cup Semi-Final with Wombwell Main U21, with a disappointing 4-2 loss to Millmoor Juniors U21. Josh Oxborough starred for Millmoor, scoring twice as they registered their third consecutive league win.
